Reach 3 & Thunder Field (2022):
Quillayute River restoration began with the Thunder Field (“Reach 3”), which was completed in 2022. The goals of this project were to:
- Direct high flows to floodplains
- Reduce erosion of Thunder Field and avulsion risk
- Improve salmon habitat
- Improve low-flow fish passage above Thunder Field
- Minimize negative impacts to fishing while achieving the above goals
