Reach 3 & Thunder Field (2022):

Quillayute River restoration began with the Thunder Field (“Reach 3”), which was completed in 2022. The goals of this project were to:

  • Direct high flows to floodplains​
  • Reduce erosion of Thunder Field and avulsion risk​
  • Improve salmon habitat​
  • Improve low-flow fish passage above Thunder Field​
  • Minimize negative impacts to fishing while achieving the above goals
